Stûv microMega

The Stûv microMega is a stove with a vertically retractable door: the glass slides upwards for refuelling. It can operate as an open fire.

Why micro? Why Mega?

micro: the space inside the stove. Its special curve concentrates the fire at the heart of the stove. This means that the power can be controlled and just the right amount of heat needed can be distributed.

Mega: view of the flames. The internal shape of the stove extends to the outside to give it more fullness.

Curved combustion chamber

To obtain a stove that can deliver less power, Stûv has reduced the volume of the combustion chamber. The more restricted the space, the higher the temperature and the better the combustion.

Good combustion means better output, which means more energy to heat the house, less to heat the atmosphere and less waste.

Slide-back glass

Operation with the glass closed is the normal operating mode of the stove: it is the most economical and the most environmentally friendly.

The glass slides upwards to allow refuelling.

The Stûv microMega can also - occasionally - operate as an open fire, to grill food in the middle of winter, for example...

Complete combustion

A single damper distributes the air inside the stove at 5 places and optimises combustion, whatever the rate chosen (see video).

Direct air intake and combustion

A single damper distributes the air at 5 points and optimises combustion:

  • through the bed of embers
  • at the base of the flames
  • half-way up
  • in the upper part (post-combustion)
  • along the glass

Maximum sealing

The stove door and its seal have been designed to guarantee maximum long-lasting sealing: when the glass slides, the seal retracts to make movement easier and to avoid wear (Stûv patent).

This sealing is important:

  • to control the distribution of combustion air;
  • to ensure that the glass is swept (for greater cleanliness);
  • so that internal air is not consumed from the room;
  • to prevent gases from escaping from the stove if the room is momentarily under negative pressure.

Side cabinets

Stûv offers storage cabinets which extend the hearth and enable logs to be stored along with all the objects needed for a good fire (firelighters, kindling, ash bucket, ash vacuum, etc.).

Cabinets

A true "heating instrument" when the Stûv microMega is integrated with its cabinets which enable the storage of all that's needed - kindling, logs, matches, barbeque grille, ash vaccum, etc.

Much more than a simple decorative accessory!

Direct air intake and combustion

No intake of interference air means that the distribution of the air needed for combustion can be controlled completely by injecting it in at 5 points in the room just where and when it's needed (at various places depending on the stove system). This means that as complete a consumption of logs as possible can be obtained to draw the maximum amount of the energy from the wood and to reduce fine particle and CO waste.

Small fireplace

Stûv offers a small fireplace which finishes off the installation of the stove.  This front panel has several advantages:

  • It hides the entire recess and eliminates building work after the stove is fitted;
  • It reduces the depth of the recess;
  • It allows access to the stove and to its flue connection for maintenance.

Ready-to-fit

Stûv ready-to-fit fireplaces provide a simple answer for those who do not want a stove but would like to incorporate the stove visually into their interior.

They can be installed in a few hours, without major works and incorporating interesting features, like the wood storage area or convection air intakes and outlets.

Log trolley

Practical and mobile, the log trolley is the ideal solution for storing your wood. Thanks to its castors, you can easily move it to load it with wood and then bring it close to the fire.

Mobilobox

This mobile box enables you to have at your fingertips all the tools (firelighters, kindling, cleaning and maintenance products, matches, barbeque grille, etc.) which are essential to get the full benefit from your stove.

Barbeque

Would you like to feel like you do in the summer all year round? Well, now it's possible! Thanks to this barbeque kit which fits your Stûv, you can make the most of convivial times with family or friends.

Barbeque

Healthier:
As opposed to the traditional barbeque, with the Stûv grill, the food is not put above the coals but in front of the flame. The food is cooked by radiation and does not risk being charred by drops of fat that burst into flame when they fall on the coals.
Fast:
Cooking is fast. Red meat is easily seared, for example. It is not necessary to wait for hot coals. The grill is fitted in no time at all on the stove (even when lit).
No cooking smells:
The draw from the chimney sucks out the cooking smells. They do not disperse inside.
Clean:
The drip-pan prevents any cooking grease from falling onto the ground.

Stûv Stories

Pleasure from heat, design and architecture

“Human fascination in the presence of fire perhaps comes from its power to completely stimulate the senses. The fire burns and sparkles with a glow that is ever-moving and changing…”, in Lisa Heschong, Thermal Delight in Architecture, MIT Press, 1979

Stûv Stories

Our products provide ways to layout and rearrange your interior. The story that they tell is straightforward and warm, simple and efficient. A story where appearance is functional and where objects blend into the architecture. Quality and perfection are the watchwords at Stûv. To improve is to simplify. This means humanising design. It also means constant innovation until a perfect harmony is found between pleasure and respect for the environment. Stûv, the essential fire.

Stûv and design

Design at Stûv is a state of mind that envisages each interaction between humans and objects throughout the object’s life-cycle. This design incorporates elements of function and form without harming either. The aesthetics of Stûv products is always justified. The form results from the function, the legibility and the semantics of the object and good use of the materials and implementation techniques used.
Stûv develops products that respond to actual needs, whether these are practical, physiological or psychological. An object that meets its function poorly causes frustration and as a result needs to be reconsidered.
The solutions developed by Stûv must always take account of the concerns of all the people who, at one time or another in the object’s lifecycle, come into contact with it: those who manufacture the object, those who install it, those who service it and those who use it.

Stûv and architecture

The form of the products cannot be separated from the architecture into which they are incorporated.
These products are not subject to the architecture. They respect it whilst inspiring it with new avenues. The formal simplicity of the products makes it possible to build them into any type of interior.

Stûv and innovation

“ Innovation is a complex process which involves, to various degrees, all the skills in a company.
The formal coherence of the product, for which the designer is the guarantor, is a reflection of the cohesion of the team.”
Gérard Pitance, industrial designer and co-founder of Stûv

Who are we?

A Belgian company based in the Namur Province in Bois-de-Villers, Stûv designs, produces and markets individual heating solutions that use wood, gas and pellets (stoves, inserts, fireplaces) designed to magnify the flame for both practical and emotional purposes (the beauty of the flame, pleasure, that welcoming feeling and the thermal benefits).

To do this, Stûv is committed to creativity, design, the quality of the products developed and their ability to live up to consumers' expectations, as well as placing real importance in human values.
